It seems to be about someone walking alone through life. They either can't or don't wish to find someone to relate to and are lonely. Sometimes it is a good kind of lonely and sometimes it feels like it would just be great to have someone there with you but that isn't how it is. The song seems like a statement of the facts just looking back on things so far and stating how they are. I fell instantly in love with this song years ago and i just heard it playing on my iPod so i was reminded how good it is.
